Phil Ivey becomes the No. 1

Phil Ivey has surpassed Daniel Negreanu to officially become No. 1 in lifetime tournament poker winnings

Daniel Negreanu had previously been the number one poker player taking into account his winnings. Since the last Aussie Millions Tournament Phil Ivey has reached the amount of more than $12.6 million in lifetime tournament winnings, just ahead of Negreanu with approximately $12.3 million.

Ivey has definitely started 2010 in a great way, and also has completed 2009 with impressive results, having won two WSOP bracelets and played the final table of the main event WSOP in Las Vegas.

Negreanu has accepted this very well, he considers Ivey a great player in every kind of play "It's my belief that Phil Ivey is the best poker player in the world, and that includes every format, it's actually kind of fun for me, I'm glad he did so well because it motivates me to try and pass him again...This should be a fun year from that perspective."
